Positive Coaching Alliance is committed to creating opportunities for girls in sports to eliminate gender inequity. Highlighting Women’s History Month, and International Women’s Day (March 8), our Gender Equity Initiative seeks to eliminate gender inequity in youth sports with a particular focus on growing the numbers of girls of color playing youth sports and equalizing their experiences in sport in addition to growing the numbers of women coaches of color and coaches supporting girls. The Initiative further seeks to promote gender equity with respect to all kids, coaches, and stakeholders.

In June of 2022, the sports field was able to leverage the 50th anniversary of Title IX, the law prohibiting sex-based discrimination in any school or any other education program that receives funding from the federal government, to further drive awareness on how far we still need to work to eliminate gender inequity. We continue celebrating Title IX beyond the anniversary, March’s Women’s History month, and our work and efforts each day alongside amazing coaches, athletes, youth sports leaders, supporters, and partners!

PCA’s New England Region is celebrating Title IX with the creation of “Eyes on Title Nine” – a collection of photographs and corresponding quotes on what Title IX means to them personally.

We’re excited to share a montage of remarkable individuals who took part in our “Eyes on Title Nine” initiative.

All photographs by Cheryl Clegg, an award-winning Boston-based commercial photographer with over two decades of successful projects. Clegg delivers images that linger. More than filling white space, each project tells a story or burns an impression into the mind of its audience.
