Workshop Preparation

Whether you're hosting live workshops or completing online training, a little planning at the start of your partnership will go a long way!

Mandating

Mandate Double-Goal Coach® Certification: The Double-Goal Coach workshops represent development opportunities for your coaches. Experience tells us that the MOST effective way to get coaches to take live or online courses is to make them mandatory. You have made an investment in this partnership, and you will want to maximize your return. Hundreds of other PCA partner organization have mandated training and found that, despite a small amount of resistance initially, the course experience consistently wins over even the skeptics.

Live Workshops

In order to help you get the word out, the following flyers (editable by you!) are available for you to download and share when promoting your workshop. You can insert your organization name, the date, time, and location of the workshop, as well as the appropriate organization contact. Always contact your representative if you have questions on these flyers:
If possible, we recommend an RSVP system that will help you know how many books you'll need to order for your workshop.

Online Courses

Congratulations on your Online Partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance! Even though you may not be pulling together a live event to conduct your PCA workshops, you still have some planning to do. Here are the steps we recommend taking to ensure your partnership is a success!

STEP 1 – CRAFT YOUR GAME PLAN!
Download and print the Online Partnership Game Plan (PDF) document, which will help you plan for how to rollout your partnership to your community. Be sure to check out our Online Partnership Best Practices (PDF) document that is filled with great ideas that other PCA Online Partners have used to make their partnership a success.

STEP 2 – CREATE A CERTIFICATION COORDINATOR
As the Game Plan document suggests, establish or clarify who is responsible for the execution of your PCA Online Partnership. Consider naming a “Certification Coordinator” on your board to help with implementation.

STEP 3 – SET A DEADLINE
We (and many of our past PCA Partners!) recommend setting a deadline for your parents, coaches and/or athletes to complete their online training.

STEP 4 – ANNOUNCE THE ONLINE TRAINING
Since you won’t be having a live event, be sure to take time to announce your PCA partnership and explain why the training is required (or suggested). Links to flyers and reminders for our online courses appear below, so get the word out!

You can use PCA’s online searchable Double-Goal Coach® database to see who has completed the coach courses, or your PCA Representative can send you updated lists at your request.

STEP 5 – TALK ABOUT IT!
While our online courses are great, one thing they lack is the ability for coaches, and/or parents to have a discussion about what they’ve learned. We encourage you to take 15 minutes from a coach or parent meeting to reinforce the online training and to show that this initiative is important to the organization. Use our Discussion Guide (PDF) to get you started!
