Sports Equity Initiative
At Positive Coaching Alliance, we are committed to promoting equity in youth sports. We believe that every child, regardless of their background, should have access to the benefits and opportunities provided by sports. Our initiatives focus on eliminating the persistent disparities and systemic barriers that affect marginalized communities, particularly emphasizing racial and gender equity.
Our goal is to increase community involvement and sports participation in underserved, marginalized communities ensuring that all children can experience the positive impacts of playing sports. By collaborating with communities, we aim to foster connections and dismantle inequitable systems, making youth sports more positive, equitable, and accessible for everyone.
Racial Equity Initiative
Our Racial Equity Initiative is dedicated to eliminating racial disparities in youth sports, which disproportionately affect Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) youth in marginalized communities. Our approach includes coalition building, coach recruitment, advocacy, and the development of tools and resources to promote racial equity across all aspects of youth sports.
Women and Girls Initiative
Our Women and Girls Initiative addresses the underrepresentation of girls and women, particularly of color, in youth sports. Our efforts focus on increasing participation and representation of girls of color as athletes and women of color as coaches. Through coach recruitment, coalition building, advocacy, and tool development, we strive to promote gender equity in sports.
Our Approach
Our Equity Initiatives employ a collaborative and strategic approach, leveraging proven strategies to create a lasting impact. We work with communities to develop tailored action plans, advocate for structural changes, and provide resources and support to dismantle barriers and foster a more equitable sports landscape.
