PCA Trainers

Shawn Stein has worked as a multilingual (Spanish, Portuguese, English) coach, mentor, researcher and educator for over 20 years. Shawn grew up in Westminster, CO, and has lived and worked overseas in Brazil, Chile, Mexico, and New Zealand. He earned his degrees in Spanish from the University of Colorado, Boulder (undergraduate) and the University of California, Riverside (graduate). His passion has always been fútbol/soccer (as a player, coach and fan), which led him to found and co-organize a youth-led, community-focused organization called the Día de Fútbol at Washington College. He has published on “fair play” in Soccer & Society. Shawn is also the co-editor of an anthology of Latin American soccer stories with editions in Spanish and English: Por amor a la pelota (2014) and Idols and Underdogs (2016). He had the privilege of being introduced to PCA’s principles while serving as a co-ed youth soccer coach and president of the board of directors for Balón USA in Denver. Shawn is currently directing “The Positive Youth Sports, Fitness and Beyond Project,” a pilot program funded by the City of Littleton, in partnership with Littleton Public Schools at Littleton High School. This project aims to enhance individual and community wellness by working with students on life and leadership skills through sport, fitness and youth-led community programming.
