Charlie Slagle became the Tampa Bay United Soccer Club CEO in March of 2016. Prior to TBU, Charlie was the Executive Director of the Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club in Denver, CO. Slagle spent more than 12 years as the CEO of the Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) in Raleigh, NC.
Slagle, also, coached the men’s soccer team at Davidson College for 21 seasons from 1980-2000. When with Davidson College and CASL, Charlie hosted 14 NCAA Division I College Cups and hosted the last training camp for the for the US men’s national team prior to the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups. While at Davidson, Charlie was the NCAA Division I coach of the Year in 1992, the Southern Regional Coach of the Year in 1990 and 1992 and was the Southern Conference Coach of the Year seven times.
Slagle is a member of the NC Soccer Hall of Fame and the Davidson College Athletics Hall of Fame. In addition, Charlie is the immediate past president of United Soccer Coaches (formerly the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)). United Soccer Coaches has a membership of 30,000 and is the largest coaching association in the world.
Charlie is a firm believer in the concept of a full service club, providing excellence for the recreational level through the competitive level, for the youngest youth in the program to the oldest, and from the least talented to the most talented.
