Triple Impact Competitor Scholarship

PCA – Tampa Bay’s volunteer mentors support our Triple-Impact Competitor® Scholarship Program for high school senior student-athletes. Our mentors are accomplished former student-athletes that respect the core PCA principles and offer invaluable guidance and advice on how to succeed not only on the field or court, but off the field and later in life by using the lessons one gains from participating in sports. Mentoring events take place throughout the scholarship program in a variety of settings and formats.

Being a PCA Mentor offers a networking community of like-minded professionals who are striving to make a difference in the Tampa Bay community. The reward of seeing the impact of their knowledge and advice on the mentees, knowing that they are assisting in developing future leaders, and helping others reach their goals is what drives our mentors to give back.

"Thank you so much for the opportunity to be a part of the Triple-Impact Competitor program! I have connected with many amazing people and gained wisdom I will carry with me throughout college and the rest of my life. All of the mentors were so supportive and it is so nice to know that I have people looking out for me! It was truly an honor to be a part of such an amazing program."

Mentoring Program Overview

Annually, the Triple-Impact Competitor Scholarship Program application window opens in August. Mentors are asked to participate in multiple virtual and in-person events to make the most of the opportunity and to truly connect with the high school seniors. A general timeline is below:

Mentor Education Training (Virtual) – get to know PCA’s foundational principles and programs

Review and Evaluation of Scholarship Applications (Virtual) – help our Committee determine who best exemplifies the scholarship attributes

Mentor Highlights (Virtual) – introduce yourself to scholarship program finalists and help them understand how you continue to use life lessons from sports in your life

Roundtable Discussions (In-person) – our scholarship finalists will blow you away, but the Committee needs your help in selecting our winners. These events have historically been held at Amalie Arena

Mentor & Mentee One-on-One (Virtual) – now that you and the students have gotten to know each other in group settings, meet with someone on-on-one to guide them in a more detailed manner

Mentor & Mentee Networking Social (In-person) – stronger networking and more pointed guidance can happen now since both sides know each other

Scholarship Awards Night & Check Presentation (In-person) – the mentoring is a big aspect of this Program, but the actual scholarship check is important, too. Spend time with the winners and their families, our Board and partners in an event historically held at Tropicana Field during a Rays game.
