Brandi Chastain, PCA National Advisory Board Member and Former USWNT Legend, discusses her support of the Earthquakes and PCA
On Saturday, August 5, the San Jose Earthquakes hosted their seventh annual A&W Root Beer Float Night in the 7UP Epicenter prior to the club’s match against Columbus Crew SC.
Fans in attendance received a delicious A&W Root Beer Floats prepared by a host of recognizable Bay Area celebrities, including PCA National Advisory Board Member and U.S. Women’s National Team Legend Brandi Chastain, Oakland Athletics Center Fielder Jake Smolinksi & A’s Mascot Stomper, San Jose Sharks broadcasters Dan Rusanowsky and Nick Nollenberger, along with Quakes broadcasters Anthony Passarelli, Chris Dangerfield and Danielle Slaton. These local celebrities supported PCA and the Earthquakes as they scooped, poured, and served A&W Root Beer Floats. Proceeds raised (over $5,000) from the event benefited the PCA-SF Bay Area, the local Positive Coaching Alliance Chapter.
Positive Coaching Alliance would like to thank the San Jose Earthquakes for supporting us in this special community event.
Root Beer Float Night is a fun, family-oriented event that provides Quakes fans of all ages with an opportunity to interact with many of their favorite sports and media celebrities from our community.
PCA believes youth sports offers the best setting to teach and build character in young people. The reason sports are the perfect setting for kids to learn life lessons is that there are an endless procession of teachable moments and character is tested all the time.
This is what makes youth sports one of the most important institutions for the future of this country. It’s so important for PCA to identify the right community partners to help spread this message and create awareness around our mission. The Earthquakes are the perfect community partner because of their focus and commitment to having a positive impact on youth in our community.
