Valeri Garcia began playing softball at age 8 where she not only fell in love with sports but also learned she wanted to be a coach. After several years of trying different sports, Valeri was a 4-year varsity athlete in basketball and softball. She earned a college scholarship to play Division I softball at San Jose State University, served 3 years on the Captain’s Council, earned All-Conference, and a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in teaching. During this time, Valeri began her coaching career in the summers with travel ball high school athletes.
After her collegiate playing career ended, she was hired as an Assistant Softball Coach at St. Mary’s College where she earned a master’s degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in sports psychology. For the next 20+ years, Valeri has coached all levels of softball from tee ball to 18U showcase softball teams while working in student retention in higher education. She is currently the head coach for the 18U team with the California Breeze organization and Director of the Guardian Scholars Program at UC Davis which supports students that experienced foster care.
