Rachel Buehler Van Hollebeke is one of the USA’s toughest and most experienced defenders. She is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist (2008 & 2012), a World Cup Silver Medalist (2011), and was a starter for the USA in two FIFA Youth World Championships. Buehler made her senior US National Team debut in 2008 and as of 2013 has played in over 100 international matches.
Van Hollebeke is a graduate of Stanford University where she studied Human Biology. In addition to captaining her college team, Rachel was also named by the NCAA Honors Committee as a recipient of the prestigious NCAA Top VIII Award and was the 2007 ESPN Academic All-American of the Year. She currently plays professionally for the Portland Thorns FC and works with Athletes for Hope, the Rady Children’s Hospital, and the Kick-It Away Platini Cancer Foundation. She plans to attend medical school when she finishes her soccer career.
