Lori Gano-Overway is an associate professor and director of the coaching education program at James Madison University (JMU). She is also a Teaching Associate within the JMU Center for Faculty Innovation. She has been involved in coach education for over 20 years and as an AASP certified mental performance consultant she works with athletes on performance enhancement issues and collaborates with coaches on creating environments that foster positive experiences and performance enhancement outcomes for athletes. Her research interests consist of understanding how the coaching climate can be structured to provide positive experiences for athletes and foster positive youth development. She also explores educational practices to foster coach learning. Lori serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Sport Psychology in Action, the International Sport Coaching Journal, and the Women in Sport and Physical Activity Journal. She is also a member of the Virginia High School League coaching education committee.
