Ken Harkenrider

Athletic Director, Canterbury School

PCA Trainers

After 35 years of service as Athletic Director at Canterbury High School in Fort Wayne, IN, Ken returned to his Alma Mater, Bishop Luers High School, in 2024. He has embarked on a new journey to impact the lives of young people as “Director of Career Readiness.” This role involves creating opportunities in the academic world, but also finding alternative routes to the adult world of work through apprenticeships, internships, and direct work-based learning. His ultimate goal is to make sure EVERY student can “find their place in the universe,” as they transition from high school to that next step in their lives.

Having first participated in a workshop facilitated by PCA Founder Jim Thompson in 2004, Ken was immediately “all-in” and has spent those ensuing years sharpening his understanding of PCA content as a certified trainer, and directly applying the principles in athletics settings as a coach and administrator. He views this recent career move as a way to utilize those same PCA lessons in a brand new way, believing that a growth mindset, proper mistake management and becoming a reliable teammate are as valuable in “off-field” environments as they are on the field!
