Karen Collins

A graduate of Princeton University (AB: 1994), University of New Hampshire (MS: 1998), and the University of North Carolina Greensboro (PhD: 2002), Karen Collins has extensive background in coach development and coaching education. After coaching in the youth development program for the USFHA and collegiate coaching stints at Princeton University, University of New Hampshire, and Dartmouth College, Karen moved to the academic discipline of coaching. While serving as the Chair in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of New Hampshire, her teaching and research areas focused on to coaching education and development, coaching philosophy, and leadership development. As both a teacher and researcher, she aims to integrate research into her teaching and leave students with a passion for the profession. In her current role as Director of Faculty Development, Karen relies on coaching development framework for her work in coaching faculty. A CHHS Teaching Excellence Award recipient as well as the recipient of the Jean C. Brierley Award for Career Excellence in College Teaching, Karen also served as the Director of the Leadership Development Program for UNH Athletics and works with athletes and coaches as sport psychology consultant to help develop a positive sport environment.
