Janet Carter is the CEO of Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA). Prior to the merger of PCA and Coaching Corps, Janet served as President and CEO of Coaching Corps for 14 years where she helped build the organization’s capacity to ensure that kids living in historically disinvested communities had access to quality sports experiences with coaches trained in helping kids believe in, and become, their best selves. For a brief period prior to the official merger of PCA and Coaching Corps, Janet served as CEO of both organizations where she led the merger integration.
Prior to joining Coaching Corps, Janet was Executive Vice President of Futures Without Violence, formerly the Family Violence Prevention Fund, where she helped grow the organization from a local nonprofit to a national leader in policy, social norm change, and institutional reform aimed at ending family violence. She was recognized by the Annie E. Casey Foundation for her national leadership in developing interventions for kids exposed to the trauma of family violence and served as Chair of their Leadership Development Network for four years. Janet is on the Board of Step-Up Tutoring, an organization that provides volunteer tutors to kids needing educational support and mentorship. She lives in San Francisco and was raised in Birmingham, England, and Detroit.
