Positive Coaching Alliance and USRowing Build Partnership to Enhance Youth Rowing Experience

Oakland, CA (April 25, 2024) – Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), a leading sports organization dedicated to fostering positive youth sports experiences, proudly announces an impactful national partnership with USRowing, the governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States.

Through this partnership, PCA and USRowing aim to empower coaches, athletes, and parents with valuable resources in the realm of social and emotional learning, enriching the holistic development of young rowers across the nation.  As part of this alliance, USRowing will integrate PCA’s research-based content and resources into its newly established online learning platform, The Launch, website, emails, and social media, ensuring that coaches are equipped with the tools to inspire and mentor young athletes effectively. Additionally, USRowing will host two live PCA workshops for its community over the summer and during the United We Row Summit, offering immersive learning experiences focused on key PCA topics such as Leading Your Organization and Developing Competitors through Positive Coaching.

PCA’s President, Jason Sacks expressed his enthusiasm for this partnership, stating, “At PCA, we are dedicated to creating a world where every child benefits from a positive youth sports experience. Our collaboration with USRowing represents a significant step towards realizing this vision in the rowing community. By combining our expertise in positive coaching with USRowing’s commitment to excellence, we are poised to make a profound impact on the lives of young athletes.”

USRowing’s Jennie Trayes is equally thrilled about the partnership, expressing anticipation for the positive influence it will have on the rowing community. “This exciting partnership with PCA aims to provide rowing coaches with expert training and new resources and, in turn, create a more welcoming, effective environment in our sport. The coaching principles so core to PCA—athlete-centered, positive, challenging yet encouraging, and character–building—can benefit rowers and coxswains of all ages. We can’t wait to get started.”

Through joint initiatives and shared values, PCA and USRowing are set to enhance the youth rowing experience, fostering an environment where young athletes can thrive not only on the water but also in life beyond the sport.
