The author of Self-Efficacy: The Exercise of Control, Bandura is a Stanford University professor emeritus of psychology, whose wide-ranging work spans six decades. Known best for originating social-learning theory and the theory of self-efficacy, Bandura is widely cited in many disciplines.

His extensive contributions have garnered prestigious awards, including the American Psychological Association’s Outstanding Lifetime Contribution to Psychology Award. Bandura’s theory of self-efficacy suggests that “[p]eople who believe they have the power to exercise some measure of control over their lives are healthier, more effective and more successful.” This seminal work directly influences PCA’s coaching education.
