Practice Planner and Post-Practice Reflection

Keep your athletes engaged
An intentional practice plan keeps your athletes engaged and helps you focus on connecting, coaching, and reinforcing team culture rather than figuring out what to do next. This template will help you map out your routines, skill progressions, and post-practice reflection. It also provides concrete examples of how the template can be used.
Key elements to map out before your next practice
- Reflect on past performance and individual connections.
- What stood out last practice – from both a team and individual perspective?
- Are there any athletes I need to check in with as soon as they arrive?
- Set clear, intentional objectives for practice.
- What sports skills will we focus on during this practice?
- What life skills (i.e. resilience, communication, effort) will we focus on?
- Map out your opening drill or activity and key teaching points.
- What activity or drill will we run first?
- What are the core demonstration points I want to highlight for both the sports and life skills?
