RECAP: Skyhawks Game On Conference– Purpose Driven Growth in Youth Sports and Leadership

PCA recently had the privilege of speaking at the Skyhawks Game On Conference, a dynamic two-day event held in New Orleans, LA, that brought together Skyhawks owners and managers as well as partners, thought leaders, and innovators to explore the future of youth sports and leadership.

The conference was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our long-standing partnership with Skyhawks, who require all their coaches and franchisees nation-wide to be certified through Positive Coaching Alliance’s online coach course.

During the conference, PCA’s Director of National Partnerships & DEI Programming Manager had the honor of participating in a panel discussion that addressed how positive coaching fosters lifelong athletes, and explored PCA’s Sports Equity Initiative. The conversation dove deep into the role that strong coach-athlete connections play in developing not only athletes’ skills but also their love for the game. These relationships are foundational to a child’s journey in sports, often setting them on a path toward becoming active for life. Additionally, PCA’s commitment to equity in sports helps ensure all athletes, regardless of socioeconomic background, race, or gender can benefit from these positive experiences.

PCA also attended the Skyhawk’s Partner Summit, themed Purpose Driven Growth: Stronger Leaders and Intentional Partnerships. Marti then led a session on Coaching Business Leaders: Positive Motivation for Managers, exploring key leadership principles like building a positive organizational culture, fostering trusting relationships, and navigating hard conversations and giving feedback with employees. The interactive nature of the session allowed participants to engage deeply with these concepts, leaving with actionable strategies for effective team management and leadership.

The Game On Conference was a fantastic space to collaborate with leaders passionate about transforming youth sports through coaching, leadership development, and intentional partnerships. We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with Skyhawks as we work together to inspire growth and positive change in youth sports.
