Coach Training: Fewer than one in ten coaches are trained in youth development and effective communication, hindering quality coaching.
Negative Youth Sports Culture: Organizations do not prioritize fostering positivity and providing essential training for coaches, parents, administrators, and student athletes.

The San Diego Sports Equity Coalition has 45 active members, including: San Diego United School District, San Diego Recreation and Parks Department, The YMCA, San Diego Wave, City Council, and others are in the process of co-creating a local Sports Equity Agenda that will be designed to increase access to youth sports for low income families in San Diego.
