Weatherford Capital Supports Tampa Bay Double-Goal Coach® Award Winners

02.09.2022

Tampa— Positive Coaching Alliance - Tampa Bay – the local chapter of the national non-profit Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) that develops “Better Athletes, Better People” through youth and high school sports – welcomes Weatherford Capital as local sponsor for its Regional Double-Goal Coach  Awards.

PCA’s Double-Goal Coach Awards recognize coaches who strive to win while also pursuing the important goal of teaching life lessons through sports. This year’s Regional Winners include 9 local coaches from 5 Bay area counties. The award includes $500, a certificate and recognition within the websites and newsletters of PCA.

“PCA has hosted this awards program for over five years, but this is the first time we’ve had a local sponsor,” said Mason Brady, Executive Director, PCA - Tampa Bay. “We felt it was important to put increased emphasis on the program as we know coaches can have such a significant influence on the lives of youth. Weatherford Capital believes in PCA’s mission and we are thankful to have them partnered with us in recognizing and rewarding local coaches that work smart and take their roles seriously. If you know Drew, Will, and the Weatherford family, you know that coaches have made significant impacts on them that have extended well beyond the playing field.”

Drew Weatherford, a Founding Partner of Weatherford Capital, former PCA Board member, and former starting quarterback at FSU, talked with his brothers -- Will and Sam -- and business partners about the opportunity to support PCA’s Regional Coach Awards because of the impact local high school and college coaches made in his life.

"From playing football under Coach John Benedetto to Coach Bobby Bowden, sports have always been a cornerstone in my life and the lives of all my siblings. Our coaches taught us fundamental lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and commitment that guided us both on and off the field," Weatherford said. He added, "PCA's Coach Awards directly support our community by empowering athletes and instilling valuable lessons into the future of Tampa."

PCA will name twenty-five (25) National Double-Goal Coach recipients in March 2022, each of whom will receive $500 and be recognized nationally on PCA’s website, in social media, and other media campaigns. One Coach of the Year will be named and receive $10,000 ($2,500 personally and $7,500 to his/her sports organization).
