Tampa Bay Coaches win regional Double-Goal Coach® Award supported by Weatherford Capital

12.12.2022

Congratulations to PCA’s local award winners who embody the Double-Goal Coach® model of striving to win while also pursuing the important goal of teaching life lessons through sports.

Tampa -- Positive Coaching Alliance - Tampa Bay, the local chapter of the national non-profit Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), has named its Regional Double-Goal Coach® awards for 2023.

PCA's Double-Goal Coach Awards recognize coaches who strive to win while also teaching life lessons through sports. This year's Regional Winners include eleven coaches from four local counties.  The award includes $500 in support from Weatherford Capital, a certificate, and recognition within the websites and newsletters of PCA.

“Weatherford Capital believes in PCA’s mission and we are thankful to have them partnered with us in recognizing and awarding local coaches that work smart and take their roles seriously.  If you know Drew, Will, Sam, and the Weatherford family, you know that coaches have made significant impacts on them that have extended well beyond the playing field,” noted Mason Brady, Executive Director, PCA- Tampa Bay.

Drew Weatherford, a founding partner of Weatherford Capital, former PCA- Tampa Bay Board member, and former starting quarterback at FSU, along with his brothers and business partners, Will and Sam, decided to support the chapter’s coach awards program because of the impact high school and college coaches made in their lives.

“Our coaches taught us fundamental lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and commitment that guided us both on and off the field," Weatherford said. He added, "PCA's Double-Goal Coach Awards directly support our community by recognizing Coaches that instill valuable lessons into the future of Tampa Bay."

All local nominees will be honored at a private event before attending the University of South Florida Men’s Basketball game on December 19th vs Hofstra University.

PCA will name 25 National Double-Goal Coach recipients in January 2023, each of whom will receive $500 with support from TeamSnap and be recognized nationally on PCA’s website, in social media, and other media campaigns.
