A recap of PCA-Los Angeles' 3rd Annual Positive Impact Awards at Dignity Health Sports Park

What an incredible night of impact at PCA-Los Angeles’ 3rd Annual Positive Impact Awards Benefit, April 13th at Dignity Health Sports Park.

A capacity crowd enjoyed the East Terrace at the home of the LA Galaxy for the Benefit and saw the Galaxy defeat the Philadelphia Union 2-0 with two goals by Zlatan!

“The Positive Impact Awards was created to celebrate the impact we all make together” said PCA-LA Executive Director Alan Berkes as he greeted partners, supporters and guests including student-athlete scholarships winners and World Cup and Olympic Soccer Champion Joy Fawcett.

First, the Community Impact Award was presented to Galaxy President Chris Klein on behalf of the LA Galaxy Foundation. LAGF and PCA-LA partner on several community initiatives including their Community Clinic Series and Coach Education Programs for underserved soccer organizations and schools.

Next up were PCA-LA’s 2019 Triple-Impact Competitor College Scholarship Winners! These outstanding high school student-athletes demonstrated that they make themselves, their teammates and the game better. Each shared what sports have taught them.

Kendall Stier, a State Champion Para-Athlete said “sports has taught me to be patient and to always pursue my dreams no matter what anyone tells me”.

Finally, special guest, Joy Fawcett, World Cup and Olympic Soccer Champion, coach and the original soccer mom took questions from PCA-LA Development Manager and former UCLA Softball National Champion, Marti Reed.

“As a coach, if you’re positive, they’ll want to come out and play for you” was Joy’s advice to the audience, which also included four PCA-LA Double-Goal Coach Award Winners.

Joy also talked about her journey as a ‘99er as we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Women’s National Team winning the World Cup and changing the face of soccer and sports for girls.

Guest were treated to exciting Auction experiences from most of the LA Pro-Teams and a lucky few got signed soccer balls and a jersey from Joy Fawcett.

PCA-LA awarded $15,000 in scholarships to the student-athletes who were recognized at halftime with a check presentation on the field!
