Pickleball + Positive Motivation = Joy!

12.18.2019

All smiles. All joy. These were the reactions of the students at Alfonso Perez Special Education Center when learning to play Pickleball and Filling Emotional Tanks came together in the brainchild of PCA-LA Director of Impact and long-time PCA Trainer Jeaney Garcia. “We had this unique opportunity to bring Pickleball and Positive Motivation together to spread joy to these wonderful students, teachers and staff,” said a smiling and energetic Garcia, who herself is a World Senior Pickleball Champion.

“Every child and staff member wanted you to come back and teach them more!” exclaimed Beverley Vigil, Special Education Director referring to Garcia. “Everyone had a blast as you could tell by all the beaming and smiling faces! We can’t wait for you to return with all of your positivity!” This Workshop is part of the partnership with the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation who has supported PCA Programs for student-athletes in Title 1 schools for the last two years.

“We’re so grateful to the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation for seeing how impacting all student-athletes, including those with disabilities makes us all winners. PCA actually started 20 years ago when our founder Jim Thompson realized the relentless positivity he used with special needs kids could translate to youth sports,” reminisces Garcia, who was there in 1998 when PCA started. “Because of this population, PCA was born!”
