PCA-Chicago Making Impact with the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears

07.02.2019

At the end of June, PCA-Chicago hosted a parent talk with Chicago Cubs RBI program and took part in the Chicago Bears Coaches Clinic. Veteran PCA Trainer Joe Scally facilitated both workshops.

The workshop with the Cubs came as part of PCA's National Partnership with MLB's RBI program, and happened during the Chicago Cubs RBI Softball Tryouts. In this workshop, parents learned how to be 'second-goal parents' — leaving the winning to the coach and help their kid learn as many life lessons from sports as possible.

Throughout the workshop, Scally focused on how parents could emphasize life lessons learned on the playing field such as resilience, teamwork, and growth mindset. To watch highlights of this parent workshop at Wrigley Field, you can watch below:

The workshop with the Chicago Bears focused mostly on how coaches can fill the emotional tanks of their athletes so they are in the best possible position to succeed on and off the field. The "emotional tank" is a key PCA concept featured in every coaching workshop from PCA in order to help kids become more resilient and help their teammates improve.

The PCA workshop with the Bears was part of a coaching clinic at the Chicago Bears Headquarters: Halas Hall and the Walter Payton Center. To see the highlights of the PCA workshop with the Bears, you can watch the video below:
