The PCA Blog

As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, PCA is proud to announce that our newest trusted resource, The Jed Foundation is also our Partner of the Month for May.

By joining forces, both organizations will collaborate on resources, roundtable webinars, and trainings focused on improving emotional health and providing support to help coaches, athletes, and leaders develop a further understanding of mental health and cope with their challenges.

As a leading resource in the mental health space, JED empowers teens and young adults by building resiliency and life skills, promoting social connectedness, and encouraging help-seeking and help-giving behaviors through their nationally recognized programs, digital channels, and partnerships.

JED strengthens schools by putting systems, programs, and policies in place to create a culture of caring. This protects student mental health, builds life skills, and makes it more likely that struggling students will seek help and be recognized, connected to care, and supported. This has helped to ensure that mental health is recognized as part of general health and wellness and not associated with shame, secrecy, or prejudice.

The vision of the Jed Foundation is to ensure that every high school and college has a comprehensive system that supports student emotional health and reduces the risks of substance misuse and suicide and that communities support the emotional well-being and mental health of teens and young adults.

We are proud to have this deep bench of expertise The Jed Foundation provides to better empower PCA to create an environment in which the emotional well-being of all our young athletes is ensured.

As part of this partnership, we will be hosting a webinar on Thursday, May 26 from 12-1pm PT | 3-4pm ET that will feature Suzanne Button, Senior Clinical Director, Knowledge & Advising at The Jed Foundation (JED), Drew Robinson, former San Francisco Giants player, and Shana Alexander, San Francisco Giants Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Director and clinical psychologist.
