Student Athlete Profile

Kailyn Scully runs cross country, track and field, and plays basketball for Lakewood Ranch High School. Her focus on grades makes her a stronger athlete mentally. “I believe that there is more to improving myself as an athlete than just improving my athletic skills. Success in sports is not merely measured by one’s physical stamina and power, but by mental strength as well. Every year I strive to become a better student in order to get the most out of school, and as of now I am ranked tenth in my class (out of over 500 students) with my 4.5 grade point average. Not only does it take brains to become a great athlete, it also takes a lot of heart.”

Kailyn’s coach sees her approach to sports stay consistent across all three sports. “I have had the pleasure of coaching Kailyn Scully for the last three years. She has exhibited strong leadership skills and I have witnessed her strong will and determination to succeed in the classroom as well as on the court. She is a prime example of someone that naturally exhibits leadership skills. Kailyn has been a team captain that has continually been a source of encouragement to her teammates. Kailyn is a successful three-sport athlete and holds the office of captain in all three sports. She is a selfless leader that leads by example and is a perfect example of a student athlete.”
