How a PCA Partner Impacts Underserved Youth

Positive Coaching Alliance truly is an alliance. Our organization has partnered with roughly 3,500 others to develop Better Athletes, Better People.

 Here is a story about one such organization, the Giants Community Fund, which for more than a decade has partnered with PCA to train coaches for Junior Giants, the Giants Community Fund’s free baseball program for youth in underserved communities throughout Northern California.

Across McCovey Cove from where the San Francisco Giants splash down their longest home runs, baseballs and shouts from kids launching their own splash hits fly over the fence of Barry Bonds Junior Giants Field. Unlike the waters directly behind AT&T Park, there are no kayakers here speeding to scoop up souvenirs — the ripples in the water from the balls the Junior Giants hit are left to linger.

But the impact of the Giants Community Fund’s Junior Giants program — the ripple effect it has — is impossible to measure.

He is a lifelong sports fan and participant, and even now enjoys playing pick-up basketball. David coached and officiated primarily baseball, softball and basketball, whether his two (now grown) children were on the teams or not.
