Hole in ONE! Inaugural Seattle Coach-Am Huge Success

08.04.2021

It was the most beautiful day, on THE premier course supporting Positive Coaching Alliance!  August 2nd, 2021 will be remembered as the first of many amazing PCA events in the state of Washington to help ensure that all youth have a positive, inclusive, character-building experience in youth sports.

Ninety golfers gathered at Aldarra Golf Club in Sammamish, WA for the 1st Annual Positive Coaching Alliance Coach-Am Charity Golf Classic presented by Brighton Jones. These ninety golfers represented over twenty different companies and organizations in Washington that believe in the power of youth sports.

Benjamin Dudley, the Regional Director of the Pacific Northwest said, “We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support for our 1st golf event. Not only did our local business community step up, but so did the Professional sports and collegiate athletic community.  It makes you proud to be a part of something that brings people together the way that sports do!  I’m also so grateful to the local Seattle board of directors. They really stepped up to help make this event a success!”

The tournament format was a scramble with a shotgun start with a twist.  Each foursome was paired with a local celebrity coach, broadcaster or professional athlete. Huge thanks to all of our VIP celebrity guests who came out to play and support PCA.

One of our celebrity athletes took things one step further.  NBA legend Detlef Schrempf took to social media following the tournament to match up to $1000 from people who will make a donation to the Positive Coaching Alliance.

Congratulations to team Unify Consulting for winning the tournament with an impressive round of 17 under par. Not easy to do on the Aldarra course. Dave Malcolm and his team came in second place shooting 16 under par.

We also had a putting contest sponsored by the Seattle Kraken.  What made this contest unique was we added a little Happy Gilmore twist and you had to putt with a hockey stick. Brad Weeks put it within an inch of the hole to win a great prize courtesy of Decathlon.  In fact, Decathlon provided all our on-course awards for KP and the Long drive competition. KP winner was Shane Kim and Long Drive winners were Jordan Babineaux and Katie Hughes.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support this event, Washington Trust Bank for sponsoring the lunch, and Olympic Eagle Distributing for sponsoring the drinks. Thank you to Baden Sports for donating our commemorative golf balls. Huge thank you to Brighton Jones for being the presenting sponsor.  Their initial investment is what fueled this tournament's success. We also have a large investment from the Excellence Initiative and MAQ Software. Huge thanks to everyone who donated something, sponsored and played! PCA raised over $60,000 and we look forward to doing this again next year!
