On May 8th, before The Rays take on the Royals, the Triple-Impact Competitor® Scholarship winners from PCA-Tampa Bay received their scholarships in an on-field award ceremony. Joining the winners on field were Matt Silverman, President of Baseball Operations for The Rays and Bart Catmull, Sagicor Life President and presenting sponsor of the Triple-Impact Competitor® Scholarship program. After the ceremony, the scholarship winners, members of their families, PCA Champions Club mentors and representatives of school district and area private school celebrated the winners in a suite hosted by The Rays. This is the third year The Rays have hosted this program for our scholarship winners.

On June 3rd, The Rays will host their National MLB initiative PLAY BALL DAY. An event designed to highlight the excitement around the sport of baseball, this years event will be hosted at a local little league park with over 55 years of service to the community. In partnership with PCA and Little League the event will feature a homerun derby, a T-Ball Friendship Tournament, Skills drills taught by Rays Summer Camp Coaching Staff, PCA training for kids and parents. The day will also feature The Rays signature mascots, Raymond and Dj Kitty.

Each year, for the past three years, The Rays have provided a community wide uniform initiative to Little League. Over the past two years, the program has grown to include Cal Ripken, PONY and Babe Ruth leagues as well. During the distribution of these uniforms, coaches are invited into Tropicana Field for the opportunity to hear from Rays Coaching Staff and participate in a PCA Double-Goal Coach® workshop.

Each year for the past three years, The Rays have hosted PCA-Tampa Bay during Rays Up week. Throughout the game, the Rays highlight the work of PCA-Tampa Bay which has had a significant positive impact and has allowed PCA-Tampa Bay to rapidly expand the number of youth and high school sports organizations adopting PCA principles. The success of the PCA-Tampa Bay Chapter has been made possible by the generous support of the Rays organization.
