With the start of school right around the corner, the SF Bay Area chapter would like to reflect back at the impact we’ve had in our community this past school year. Below are a few highlights of a historic year.
We were excited to launch a groundbreaking partnership with Los Gatos High School where EVERY incoming freshman attended a “Becoming a Triple-Impact Competitor” workshop. This was the first of a 4-year plan and will see every student impacted by its conclusion. This plan will be replicated at Silver Creek High School in 2018/2019.
After partnering individually with a few schools in the Fremont Union High School District previously, we were honored that the district decided to create a 25 workshop plan for all five high schools. We will be working with every coach and captain for the next three years. This will impact an estimated 10,000 student-athletes.
We are truly grateful for the support of our local Major League Baseball teams, the San Francisco Giants and Oakland Athletics.
The SF Giants hosted our annual Triple-Impact Competitor Award Dinner in March. There were over 300 people in attendance to witness 20 seniors receive their award and scholarship. During this event, we raised a record amount of donations to increase our footprint all over the Bay Area.
Not to be left out, the Oakland Athletics hosted workshops for the North Oakland and South Oakland Little Leagues in the Coliseum. This included a pre-workshop chat with an A’s coach, field skills lessons for their teams, and tickets to a game. The A’s also agreed to fund and host the Oakland Unified School District’s Character and Leadership Program throughout the upcoming school year. In this program, the student-athletes will be able to build their character, leadership skills, and sense of community while networking with students from across the city.
As great as last year was, we hope to make the upcoming school year even better!
