Austin Smith

Captain, United States Air Force—Lead Program Manager

Lead Program Manager of next-generation weapon systems and technology at Hanscom Air Force Base.

Austin was commissioned as an Officer in the U.S. Air Force in 2017. Since commissioning, Austin has worked on multiple billion-dollar acquisition programs such as the ~$12bn GPS satellite program and worked directly with SpaceX and Lockheed Martin. In addition, Austin worked with Allied and Coalition Partners to test and develop airborne command and control systems to be used in a deployed environment. Lastly, he led a team responsible for developing anti-jam satellite communications capabilities for the United States. Austin earned his B.S. from the United States Air Force Academy where he was captain of the Air Force lacrosse team, leading the team to three Conference Championships in 2014 (ECAC), 2016, & 2017 (SOCON) and the winningest class in school history. Austin was selected as Second Team All-ECAC, ECAC All Freshman midfielder, Air Force Rookie of the Year, and holds the record for most games played in program history.
