Coaching Certification Instructor, USA Hockey
Trainer - Minnesota
A coach of youth sports for over 20 years, Andrew Shriver played Div. 3 college hockey at Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota. He also played soccer and some baseball as a high school athlete and was a member of a State Championship hockey team. His coaching career began as a 10th grader in 1984 coaching peewee hockey. Since then Andrew has served as a head high school coach (including an experience of a lifetime in Minnesota’s State Hockey Tournament), a Director of Hockey for a community youth association, 7 years as a coaching certification instructor for USA Hockey and Chair of Minnesota Hockey’s Director of Hockey training program. He has coached too many youth competitive and recreational teams of his own children to count in boys and girls soccer, hockey, baseball, lacrosse, softball and a tiny bit of golf. Andrew believes deeply that the best coaches do not choose between winning and character development. Taking pages from the careers of Wooden, Ehrmann, Dungy, Kerr and the like, Coach Shriver is committed to the premise that development that leads to winning must include a working understanding of how the ethics, character, psychology, child development and sport science conspire to yield excellence at all levels of any sport.
