Head Women's Basketball Coach, Macalester College
Once a key member of the 2004 Minnesota Gophers Women’s Final Four team, Kelly Roysland, a Fosston, Minnesota, native is making a difference once again in her home state as a PCA trainer.
With 1,074 career points, Roysland is 15th on the school’s leading scorer list and was named team MVP and All-Big Ten third team in her senior season. Before her collegiate career was over, Kelly found time to stay involved with youth athletics, coaching volleyball and basketball. Shortly after an illustrious career on the court, Kelly embarked on a coaching career at the Division I level.
Kelly served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at North Dakota State for a three-year stint before returning home. After playing for her dream school as a college athlete, Kelly earned the opportunity to serve as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. In her four years as a coach at Minnesota, she helped lead the Gophers to three postseason appearances and a 71-58 record. Also, she was instrumental in landing the 17th-best recruiting class in 2011 and the 34th-best in 2012.
Kelly treasured her time as an assistant coach, but could not pass up the chance to lead a program of her own. Kelly is the head coach of the Macalester Scots women’s basketball team. Roysland believes her experience, both as a player and coach, will be useful in her ability to connect with youth athletes and coaches alike and is excited for the opportunity to make an impact as a PCA trainer.
