Jim Perry graduated from the University of Southern California in 1974 while playing basketball for the Trojans. Jim began his career in teaching, coaching, and athletic administration at the high school and college levels in 1975.

Jim has served as Chairman of the National Coaches Council and as President of the National Council of Secondary School Athletic Directors. He has also served as a member of the Building Character Through Sports Task Force for the White House and Congressional
Conferences.

In 1997, Jim was inducted into the Southern California Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame. In 2018 the SCIBCA presented Jim with their Lifetime Achievement Award.

The California State Athletic Directors Association named Jim the “California State Athletic Director of the Year” for 2006.

In March of 2012, Jim was inducted into the National Association of Sport and Physical Education “Athletic Director Presidential Hall of Fame.”

Jim is currently President of the CIF Southern Section Federated Council. He is also severed as President of the California Interscholastic Federated Council.

Jim retired in 2013 with 38 years of experience in teaching, coaching and athletic administration at the high school and college levels. His retirement lasted 3 weeks. He is now the District Athletic Director for the Huntington Beach Union High School District. This is Jim’s 4th year in education-based student athletics.
