Executive Director, SF Bay Area

Staff

Mike joins PCA in March 2019 as Executive Director of PCA's San Francisco Bay Area Chapter. Mike will work to re-engage the dynamic Bay Area board to develop and implement a new long-term strategy, build financial support, and broaden and deepen partnerships, all with the goal of expanding youth sports development zones across Northern California.

Mike brings extensive experience in both corporate and non-profit management and leadership to help the Bay Area Chapter achieve its mission. Mike held senior corporate legal positions for over 20 years with Bay Area wireless and technology companies, including Vodafone, Telephia, and Portal Software. In those roles, Mike managed legal teams and led the negotiation and development of strategic national and international alliances, licensing, distribution and procurement transactions.

Inspired by the memory of his daughter, Danielle, who had dreamed of becoming become an elementary school teacher when she grew up, Mike transitioned to the non-profit sector in 2017 to become the first Executive Director of Super Stars Literacy, an early literacy intervention program for students in low-income communities.  During his time at SSL, Mike led an increase in revenue from $300k to $1.5M, improved program quality, developed strategic partnerships with regional education networks, and expanded and professionalized the board of directors.

Most recently, Mike worked as National Director for Encore.org—a social enterprise that places seasoned for-profit professionals into non-profit organizations often as a ‘second act’ to their careers. By cultivating corporate sponsors, Mike helped add over $5M in earned revenue to Encore in his time there.

Mike lives in Oakland with his wife, Patty, where he serves on the Endowment Board of the Oakland Rotary and runs its golf league. He also leads an annual charity golf tournament in Scottsdale. And he directs a donor-advised fund at the East Bay Community Foundation in memory of Danielle, supporting youth and education programs.  Mike received his law degree from University of Toledo and earned his B.A. in Political Science from The Ohio State University.
