Brand and Marketing Executive, Brew Dr. Kombucha
Chapter Board - Portland
Katie Marston is a lover of creativity, laughter, and a good challenge. Possessing these traits has served her well as she has successfully navigated her 17-year career in a variety of roles, countries, and industries. She has had the great fortune to develop brand strategies for both small and large scale companies, even rolling up her sleeves as an entrepreneur with her own consulting business. This background has laid the perfect foundation for her current role as Vice President of Marketing for The Townshend Group of companies: Brew Dr. Kombucha, Townshend's Teahouses, and Thomas & Sons Distillery. Katie is responsible for linking the creativity of the company’s product team to a customer-focused communication strategy. She advances consumer awareness and loyalty, while driving customer preference for the brands through all channels.
Previously in her role at Kendra Scott, she quickly built and scaled the marketing plan and organization to fit the extreme growth of the company. This included talent assessment, budget setting, foundation creation, and strategy innovation. Under Katie’s leadership, Kendra was admitted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America and the brand’s creative evolution that she oversaw helped exceed company targets and take them from a $125M region specific brand to a $1.1B nationally recognized one.
It was at the University of Oregon where Katie enriched her passion for sports, creativity, and healthy living. From there she went on to work for adidas for 12 years in their Portland, Amsterdam, Herzogenaurach, and Carlsbad offices. At adidas, one of her personal highlights was the management of the go-to-market process and global demand initiation for the launch of their NEO label.
Giving back has always been important to Katie, both in her local community and nationally where she can make a difference. She has also always worked for companies that felt the same way. Katie currently serves on the Chapter Board of the Positive Coaching Alliance of Portland and while living in San Diego she worked with the Veteran organization Travis Manion Foundation. It was there that she created curriculum that would elevate the personal brands of those just leaving the military to better help with a successful transition.
Katie currently lives in Lake Oswego, Oregon with her husband Brad and their two kids, Charlie Grace and Declan.
