Mike Klinzing grew up in Strongsville, Ohio and went on to play division one college basketball at Kent State University scoring over 1,000 points in his career and earning a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. After graduating from Kent State, Mike founded Head Start Basketball and has been running basketball camps for youth players for the past 25 years. Head Start Basketball also offers individual and group basketball skills training. Head Start Basketball's mission is to teach the game of basketball the right way and use the game to improve character, develop leadership skills, and promote sportsmanship. Mike writes a youth basketball blog, Basketball on the Edge, that helps parents, coaches, and players get more from the game. He is a licensed USA Basketball Youth Development Coach. In addition to his work at Head Start Basketball, Mike has also coached high school basketball at Strongsville, Bay, and Richmond Heights. He is currently an elementary physical education teacher at Richmond Heights Elementary School. Mike is passionate about coaching and improving the sports experience for players, coaches, and parents. He is also the host of the Hoop Heads Podcast, a show that features interviews with some of the best minds in basketball, from the grassroots to the NBA.
