Five-time NBA champion, 15-year NBA veteran, and former General Manager of the Phoenix Suns, Kerr enters his first season as the head coach for the Golden State Warriors. Kerr entered the NBA as a second round selection by the Suns (50th overall) in 1988. He played for six teams during his 15-year tenure (Phoenix, Cleveland, Orlando, Chicago, San Antonio and Portland). He was a part of NBA championship teams in Chicago in 1996, 1997 and 1998, and then won two more rings with the Spurs in 1999 and 2003.
Kerr grew up in Pacific Palisades, Calif and played college basketball at the University of Arizona, where he helped lead the Wildcats and coach Lute Olson to their first Final Four appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 1988. Kerr earned a degree in general studies from Arizona with an emphasis in history, sociology and English in 1988. Kerr and his wife Margot have three children: Nicholas, Matthew, and Madeleine Kerr, who plays for the Cal Women's Volleyball team.
