“Being a student-athlete is just as important as being a great competitor on the court. I’ve learned to use the teamwork that I practice when I play basketball and apply it to working as a team when assembling the food packages we hand out at Feeding Tampa Bay. I use the skills of strategy and preparation that I practice within chess and tennis matches to create volunteer events as a part of Tampa Demands Action and plan volunteer events for children at the Florida Aquarium. And by practicing these skills outside of school, I not only make myself a smarter, better competitor, but I also make myself a better person.”
