Jeff Barnett is CFO and Co-Founding Partner of Dorsal Capital Management in Redwood City, CA. Dorsal is a hedge fund that invests in public companies in the technology and consumer sectors. As CFO, Jeff is responsible for all non-investment activities of the firm, including client relations, human resources, compliance and operations. Prior to Dorsal Capital, Jeff was Partner and COO at Granite Point Capital, a Boston-based hedge fund focused on mid-small cap US equities. Before that, Jeff was vice president of venture-backed software company StarMine (now part of Thomson Reuters), where he spearheaded the development of new software tools from concept to post-sales support for global clients including UBS and Merrill Lynch. Jeff is also a professional classical singer, specializing in music of the Baroque and early classical periods. He has performed with some of the country’s finest chamber orchestras and choruses, including Philharmonia Baroque, American Bach Soloists, and the Warland Singers. His many volunteer roles over the years have included the Board of Visitors for the New England Conservatory of Music, board member of the San Francisco Financial Executives Alliance, various committees and boards for Stanford University, and as a coach for his children’s sports teams. He lives in Palo Alto with his wife, Jamie Barnett, a software executive, and his kids J.T. and Claire.
Jeff is a graduate of Saint John's University (Minnesota) and received an MBA from Stanford University, from which he has twice received awards for outstanding volunteer service. While a student at Stanford, Jeff had the privilege of taking a class on leadership with PCA Founder Jim Thompson.
