With 60 staff and 170 experienced PCA trainers, the organization partners with over 800 youth sports organizations, school districts, professional sports leagues, youth-serving organizations, and community leaders across the country to provide them with the tools and training they need to make their youth sports offerings positive, equitable, and accessible.

PCA is headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area and operates via a national footprint of 13 local PCA regions with committed non-governing local boards. Position PROFILE

The Director, Advancement Operations is a nonprofit operations leader who has proven experience leading high-functioning fundraising support teams and holding the responsibility for creating and implementing organizational fundraising policies and procedures for timely solicitations, accurate gift and revenue forecasting, grant processes, donor acknowledgements, and more. The ideal candidate brings their expertise in nonprofit fundraising environments, partners with senior and C-suite leadership on strategic planning and enjoys solving the puzzle of the project-management details.

The Director, Advancement Operations has directly managed fundraising operations staff (development calendar, donor database, events, reporting, campaigns, cross-team process definition & implementation) for at least 5 years but rolls up their sleeves to contribute where & when needed. The ideal candidate understands sports and is passionate about our Organization’s training and our equity work in communities.

  • Serving as a key advisor to Advancement leadership on fundraising strategic initiatives, and recommending the required staff capacity and corresponding goals for the Advancement team.
  • Leading & project-managing the Advancement staff by setting Advancement meeting schedules and agendas, assisting in defining roles, recommending processes and cross-team efficiencies, and identifying priorities and work deliverables for Advancement (Operations) staff.
  • Providing support and guidance on best practices for donor management and solicitation in alignment with the annual Advancement calendar.
  • Managing the Advancement Operations team: removing obstacles, aligning efforts, managing performance accountability, providing appropriate professional development, and leveraging staff talent and potential.
  • In collaboration with the Events Manager, overseeing the production & ROI of Advancement events for all major and leadership donors throughout the year with various topics/staff/locations to maximize outreach.
  • Overseeing the Organization’s stewardship & engagement plan for PCA in collaboration with the Associate Director, Stewardship & Engagement
  • Ensuring that technological solutions for Advancement data are enabling effective, efficient, and coordinated efforts and reporting across departments in collaboration with the Associate Director, Development Operations
  • Setting key performance indicators to measure team performance. Preparing operational analyses and reports to Executive and Board committees as needed
  • Providing strategic support to the President and the VP, National Advancement by assisting with the preparation and execution of key regional board and stakeholder fundraising meetings and activities
  • Leading resource alignment efforts on grant management: recommending staffing coverage, processes, policies, & technology solutions
  • Staying well-versed in the current overall work of PCA, locally and nationally, to be an effective representative of the organization.

Qualifications & REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Thorough & proven success (estimated 10 years of experience) in nonprofit fundraising environments, preferably with some experience in the social sector.
  • Demonstrated excellence in directly supervising Development/Advancement Operations teams with a proven track record of success in leading strategic operational alignment of staff, policies, and processes.
  • Expert level organizational and project-management skills. Experience (estimated 5 years minimum) directly project managing Advancement Operations process/systems implementation required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, written communication. Comfortable with public speaking in English & creating effective presentations (pacing, efficient content, customizing for audience, preparation, visuals, etc.).
  • Ability to understand and follow many different areas of the positive youth development field and the sports industry, particularly youth sports.
  • Proficiency with office technology and information systems (including Google and Microsoft Office Suites) and donor databases (i.e. Salesforce)/moves management tools.
  • Experienced in fundraising ethics, etiquette, and confidentiality practices concerning donor information and management
  • Commitment to PCA’s stated values of collaboration, equity, learning, empathy, and belonging
  • In addition to the above requirements, professional experience working with distributed organizations and/or remote teams provides a competitive advantage in candidate selection.

$115,000 - $120,000 Annually
