Class Notes

I am attending the University of Florida, class of 2023, pursuing a degree in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology on the pre-physical therapy track! I’m involved in the Chi Omega sorority, volunteering at Shands hospital, an undergraduate pre-PT organization, a mentoring program at a local middle school, and a club that cultivates cultural growth and interaction with international students. I plan to study abroad next summer and join the club lacrosse team next year! I’m still so grateful for all the wonderful experiences PCA gave me and everything it’s taught me.

I decided to major in physics at Caltech because of how interesting my freshman physics classes were. This summer, I am doing research with the Caltech Precision Timing Laboratory, which is involved with CERN's Compact Muon Solenoid. The Compact Muon Solenoid is a particle detector part of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. I am so excited to be contributing to this great organization of scientists! Additionally, I am on the board of the club "Society of Women Engineers" and I can't wait for next year to plan events that help get young girls into STEM. I would not be where I am today if not for the continuous support I have received from everyone around me, especially from my high school lacrosse coach Jayne Chapman. Thank you so much for everything PCA!

My freshman year at The University of North Florida has been full of incredible opportunities and experiences. I have met amazing friends who have guided and shaped me this year, and I know that I would not be where I am without their encouragement and support. As a music major, I have had many once-in-a-lifetime performance opportunities, including playing for world-class musicians and debuting new pieces of music. I have been involved in clubs, campus activities, and an amazing campus ministry that has welcomed me with open arms. While I am sad that my freshman year has been cut short, I am so grateful for everything I have learned and experienced and I look forward to what the next three years will hold!

My freshman year has been a whirlwind of fun and new experiences. I didn't hesitate to start getting involved at University of Central Florida. Currently, I am involved in a sorority (Kappa Alpha Theta) and I serve on the bid day committee and the events committee. I also was elected to serve as a Panhellenic representative for my chapter, which means I attended weekly meetings to give/ receive updates about what was going on in the Panhellenic community and report it back to my chapter. Outside of Greek life, I have gotten involved in Student Government as well. In the fall, I joined the Student Government Leadership Council where I learned more about each of the branches to decide which one I wanted to pursue and got to help plan/ volunteer at different SG sponsored events. In the spring, I then moved into Senate Leadership Council to learn more about the Senate specifically. I was actually in the process of becoming a Senator right before our spring break and I was going to be sworn in after spring break, but given that we never returned to campus due to coronavirus, I assume I will be sworn in in the fall. I am also a LEAD scholar at UCF which is a leadership organization in which I take leadership classes and have a lot of service/ leadership opportunities around campus. I have a few things lined up for next year that I am working on such as being a Student Ambassador for the College of Business, being a Teaching assistant for Macroeconomics, and holding an executive position in my sorority! I also made the Dean's List for last semester!

My freshman year at Colorado State University has been amazing and I’m excited to share some of the activities I participated in this year. Since I came to this school not knowing a single soul because I am from Florida, I had to try and put myself out there as much as I could to meet new people. I joined two volleyball teams: indoor and sand. I joined a soccer and basketball league with my friends in my hall. I learned how to play spikeball and went skiing for the first time in Wyoming. I also joined a club called the Special Olympics organization. This was an even better way to branch out and meet more people and I did it with my friend Katie. I was nominated by the Resident Assistants on my hall to represent Corbett hall as being a leader. This was such a great accomplishment because I was very outgoing even without knowing a lot of people and still tried to get people together and do fun activities. I went to most of the football games and one of them was in the Mile High Stadium where the Denver Broncos play. It was such a great experience and I got to see CSU take on CU Boulder which is our rival. I did a lot of outdoor activities as well including hiking and climbing. Freshman year has been a blast and I’m a little sad it got caught so short but I have made so many memories that will last me a lifetime!

I am currently a freshman at the University of Florida majoring in computer engineering. I’ve been keeping active by playing intramural and club basketball, and have been getting involved on campus by exploring various clubs and groups. I was looking into an internship opportunity this summer at Accusoft, a software company in the Tampa Bay Area, but due to the recent circumstances, they had to cancel all summer internship programs. In the future, I hope to further commit to a select few group of clubs/organizations, and possibly look into being a manager for the basketball team here at UF.

Since leaving my high school, and therefore my cross country and track teams, I knew that the life lessons and skills I gained from running were unforgettable and I did not want to lose that. When I first arrived at Georgetown University, I felt a bit lost as to what I would join and the organizations that I wanted to be a part of. However, I quickly found a home in the running club and was able to keep growing in the practical and athletic skills that come with being a runner. But at the same time, I wanted to expand in other areas as even through running have acknowledged how important it is to remain balanced in all aspects of your life. I continue to volunteer with the Center for Social Justice to help those suffering from housing and food insecurity in which I have met with so many interesting people while giving back to the community around me. Not surprisingly with being in Washington D.C., I was also hired to work with the largest student run non-profit in the world called the Corp and have also simply explored the area while participating in political rallies around me. It has truly been an amazing experience for my first year at Georgetown, but to get where I am, the salience of the skills I have learned from running are invaluable to how I am today.

I am currently studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Central Florida. I hope to graduate in 2023 and pursue a graduate degree in Computer Science. I recently received an undergraduate research position building computer simulations of aerodynamic systems. I made the tough decision to not continue my sport in college, but I still participate in various intramural sports because I enjoy staying active as much as I can.

I am currently attending Hillsborough Community College and have had the opportunity to work for a company called International Fire Protection. I will be graduating from HCC this semester with my Associates and transferring to the architecture program at the University of South Florida this fall to major in Architectural Design. I have continued my journey in tennis by playing on a local USTA league where I have had the pleasure to play with and build relationships with so many sweet women in our community. I have started to really enjoy CrossFit and mountain biking, in addition to tennis, and joined the lead team for college ministry at my church. I’m so thankful for the experience I had and the wonderful mentors I had the opportunity to meet during the scholarship process with PCA.

I am currently enrolled at USF with a major in Anthropology. I hope to graduate within the next 2 years, maybe sooner. I have worked at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, as ambassador on the Skyride, for almost 6 months now. I also have a part-time job working at Archaeological Consultants Incorporated, where perform shovel tests at historical sites throughout the state of Florida. I have sadly discontinued playing sports, however, I still like to remain as active and physically healthy as possible. I'm not sure what the future has in store for me right now and I'm not 100% sure I know what I want to do, but I remain optimistic and hopeful I'm on the right path.

I'm currently attending the University of Pennsylvania majoring in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics and graduating 2020. I'm also on the Track and Field team and compete as a Multi - eventer, so I do the Pentathlon during the indoor season and the heptathlon during outdoor. This past summer, I worked as a Residential Teaching Assistant for a pre-college program at Wharton for high school seniors and absolutely loved it! It was super high paced, but I learned a lot and it was brilliant work experience. Near the end of summer, I was a counselor for the UPenn chapter of Camp Kesem which is a camp for kids whose parents have cancer. It was a life changing experience learning how resilient, brave, and strong these kids were, so I decided to get more involved with the organization and am now the Director for the 2019 camp. As for future professional plans, my goal is to work for a non profit organization or in government, but I'm still narrowing down my options.

My major is Biology with a possible double major or minor in Spanish, and I hope to attend a graduate school in the future to study physical therapy. I still participate in sports as I am on the club soccer team, club volleyball team, and two intramural soccer teams.

I am attending UCF. I am just starting into my junior year since I came into UCF with college credits from high school. I should be set to graduate in early to mid 2020. My first year as a freshman, I made the football team for UCF and I was red shirted that first year. I also maintained the athletic honor role while being part of the team. The next year, last year, we went all season undefeated including our Peach bowl game in Atlanta against Auburn live on TV! Being red shirted my first year, making me still a freshman last year, I did not play in the game but, I was part of everything none the less, which was so awesome. That was one of the most exciting and fun times of my life. As a team we participated in many community events and met a lot of great people.
