PCA-Los Angeles Summer of Character Development Program is a Successful Pilot!

09.26.2019

PCA-Los Angeles had an outstanding summer building Character Development with over 100 youth participating in camp at the Mar Vista Recreation Center. PCA trainers led them in creative art activities, games, and group discussions focusing on PCA’s fundamental points of Emotional Tanks, ELM Tree of Mastery, and Honoring the Game through ROOTS. The campers learned how to apply the key ideas which will carry them in sports, at school, at home, and within in their communities.

The campers filled their emotional tanks by using High Five Buddies as a tool to stay positive and to always have someone lifting them up. They created their own special high five with a partner and performed it every time they wanted to celebrate. The campers also learned that making mistakes is OK through the ELM Tree of Mastery. They finally learned to honor the game through rules, opponents, officials, teammates, and self (ROOTS).

This campers were reminded of PCA’s principles throughout the summer and were left with the tools and resources of how to be a good teammate in sport and in life!
