The Board of Positive Coaching Alliance-Tampa Bay (PCA-TB) is pleased to announce that Mason Cathey has been promoted to Executive Director.
“Mason’s passion for positive youth development combined with her wide-ranging experience at PCA made her the ideal candidate to ensure the organization continues impacting the lives of tens of thousands of children playing sports across our community,” said Matt Silverman, President of the Tampa Bay Rays and Board Chair of PCA-TB.
Cathey joined PCA-TB four years ago as a Certified Trainer responsible for leading PCA-TB’s community education programs for coaches, parents and student-athletes throughout the Tampa Bay community. In March, 2018, Cathey was promoted to the role of Community Impact Manager responsible for developing, building and expanding partnerships with local schools, youth sports organizations, government-run recreation programs.
“I’m excited for the next chapter in my PCA career,” said Cathey. “Through my experience as Community Impact Manager and Certified Trainer, I’ve seen first-hand how PCA’s character and leadership development curricula make a positive impact on the lives of children throughout our community. Sports is a powerful vehicle to teach critically important social emotional learning skills, and I look forward to continuing our work with valued partners like Hillsborough County Public Schools, Pasco County Schools, Manatee County Schools and Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation.”
Cathey succeeds Mark Sakalosky, who served as Executive Director since the not-for-profit launched in January, 2014 and will remain a member of the PCA Board. “Mason’s qualifications made her the perfect person to lead PCA-TB going forward. Her knowledge of PCA’s curricula and local partners truly set her apart. I’m pleased to pass-the-baton to Mason and look forward to working with her as a Board member focused on creating positive youth development through sports and expanding the number of children that benefit from PCA’s character education programs.”
