Impact Story: Developing Leadership Skills For The Future

12.20.2017

Looking back on our past year, I’m incredibly proud of our partnership with the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission’s Urban Youth Initiative, presented by University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. This past summer we worked with more than 200 youth between the ages of 8-12 from each of the city’s 21 Recreation Centers.

Our sessions focused on the importance of being an “energy raiser.” Through a series of games and group huddles, we taught kids specific ways to make themselves, their teammates, their families and their communities better.

“PCA offered the kids a chance to learn more about positive play, sportsmanship, and confidence when interacting with their teammates and coaches,” said Becky Griesmer, Programming and Event Coordinator for the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission. “They walked away not only realizing how to positively Fill Emotional Tanks and how to best Honor the ROOTS of the Game, but [also realizing] their own leadership skills and what they could offer to others in the future.”
