Continuing The Legacy of Coach Kyle Elig

10.19.2018

“Be Confident, Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose.” Those words jumped off of a banner that was hung over the registration table during the Coach Kyle Elig Foundation Memorial Golf Outing on Saturday, September 15th at Fowlers Mill Golf Course in Chesterland, OH. This was the fourth annual golf outing in memory of Coach Kyle Elig, a beloved father of four and little league coach to many who passed away suddenly in June 2015.

As a little league coach of numerous sports, Coach Kyle instilled the values of teamwork, leadership, courage, confidence, and self-worth, not only in each individual child but in their parents as well. Coach Kyle constantly provided unwavering faith, unconditional love, and constant support to all those around him. He was a leader by example, constantly putting all others before himself both in his family and his community.

“Upon meeting Coach Kyle’s lovely wife, Carla, it became extremely evident that Coach Kyle embodied what it means to be a Double-Goal Coach.” Said PCA-Cleveland Partnership Manager, Ryan Virtue. “That became even more evident throughout the golf outing as stories about Coach Kyle came from participating family and friends.”

The Coach Kyle Elig Foundations mission is to continue the positive impact that Coach Kyle had on the community by providing funding for youth sporting clinics, donations to cover league fees, scholarships for young athletes, and so much more. In doing so, the Foundation plans to preserve Kyle’s legacy of love, compassion, and dedication while simultaneously making something he was so passionate about more available: the lessons young athletes gain from sports, such as teamwork, confidence, and a simple love of their game, whatever that may be.

“Kyle was a very passionate coach who meant so much to so many and it is my honor and privilege to be able to work with such incredible family, friends, and volunteers to preserve his memory” said Carla Elig, Coach Kyle’s wife and Executive Director of the Coach Kyle Elig Foundation. “We take great pride in continuing the positive impact he had on our community by supporting many local youth sports programs and athletes and hope to do so for years to come.”

The mission of the Coach Kyle Elig Foundation and the Positive Coaching Alliance are directly in line with one another, and as such, the Positive Coaching Alliance was named the primary benefiting charity for the golf outing. At the end of the outing, PCA-Cleveland was presented with a check for $10,000 that will have a significant impact on youth in the Greater Cleveland area.

“PCA-Cleveland is extremely thankful to the Coach Kyle Elig Foundation for this incredible gift.” Said Virtue. “This gift will have a significant impact on the future of PCA here in the greater Cleveland area and I look forward to continuing this relationship with the Foundation into the future.”
