Student Athlete Profile

Bianca Dyer plays volleyball and tennis Robinson High School. She takes the time to pick up her teammates by building their confidence. I make my teammates better by leading on the courts, both volleyball and tennis. I pick up my teammates when they make mistakes. I encourage them because they are good and can excel if they truly have confidence. I often notice discouragement manifest itself as self-doubt and nearly self-loathing, when in actuality; my teammate is a perfectly good volleyball player who I know can play. I constantly find myself reminding the girls around me that they made the team for a reason.

Bianca’s coach has witnessed the impact strong leadership can make on the entire organization beyond the game. “As team captain she is a true leader. She came forward months before the season started with help and suggestions for me regarding the team. I have very little experience coaching tennis and she quickly became my right hand woman! She single-handedly organized our team tryouts and every practice. She helped me create lineups for each match, always exercising humility and considering what was best for the team. She served as the spokesperson for me regarding team communications, updating our team website on her own accord. She served as a personal cheerleader for each one of the girls on our team. Bianca is a junior and our team is made up of mostly freshman. Bianca went out of her way at every match and practice to make these girls feel comfortable and a part of the team. I have heard and witnessed her pick up her teammates when they make mistakes.”
