Andrea’s teacher speaks highly of Andrea’s success in the classroom: “Andrea Wallace was a student in my Honors Algebra II class this year. The class is notoriously difficult as the curriculum encompasses parts of Pre-Calculus in addition to the typical Algebra II curriculum. Andrea entered this course with the attitude that she was ready to work hard and take on the challenge. She positioned herself in the front of the room and focused on the lessons each day. If there was a time when Andrea needed clarification or for me to repeat something, she politely and respectfully let me know and more often than not the others in the class would be grateful for her questions. The student that chose to sit next to Andrea in class struggled throughout the year, and Andrea took it upon herself to help that student and encourage that student throughout the year. I remember an occasion when students were working in pairs to complete a review worksheet. Andrea’s partner was unsure about the topic and Andrea encouraged her to try a few problems. When I walked over to check on their progress, Andrea asked if their answers were correct. The answers were and Andrea’s partner got the biggest smile on her face. Andrea nodded and said that her partner had done the problems and we both gave praise to the struggling student. Andrea has this same attitude when it comes to basketball. I see her working to better herself by practicing and taking practice seriously. I see her encouraging others and leading them down the path to success. I see her taking pride in her team and loving the game. I see Andrea as a wonderful example of a Triple-Impact Competitor, and I am honored to be able to recommend her for this scholarship.”
