Student Athlete Profile

Aliyah Andrews is a softball player from East Lake High School. She honors the game by seeing the big picture. Softball is a game of chances as much as it is a game of physical skill and mental dexterity. I approach each game with a positive attitude and determination to win. When things don’t go my way, (I strike out or get thrown out) I don’t get discouraged. I aim to try harder my next at-bat. In the same vein, if one of my teammates makes an error, I offer inspirational words to encourage them to shake it off and look forward to the next play. I honor the game by maintaining positivity and respecting all the components of my beloved sport.”

Aliyah’s coach sees the impact of her preparation on the team. “Aliyah is the perfect example of a Triple-Impact Competitor. Coming into her junior year she really dedicated herself to being the best player she could. Almost everyday she came to practice early or stayed late to hit. Whether it was by herself, hitting on a tee, or getting extra cuts from a coach, Aliyah was driven to be an elite athlete. As her teammates walked up to practice everyday they saw Aliyah putting in the extra work and realized that if everyone worked extra then our program would thrive.”
