In 2004, he was inducted into the Sierra H.S. Athletic Hall of Fame.

Roby's 27 year athletic coaching, recruiting and consulting experiences include multiple opportunities at the youth, high school, collegiate and professional levels. His coaching philosophy is largely influenced by Mr. J. Fisher DeBerry, a 2006 College Football Hall of Fame inductee. He is also a steadfast proponent and advocate of the teachings and principles of Positive Coaching Alliance's Double-Goal Coaching. Double-Goal Coaching uses three principles to prepare athletes to win while teaching life lessons. 1) ELM Tree Mastery--give best Effort, Learn from everything, bounce back from Mistakes. 2) Filling Emotional Tanks--make teammates better and more productive; help athletes become leaders. 3) Honor the Game--respect; compete while making family, school and community proud. Roby's passion for coaching is driven by personal fulfillment and the intense desire to serve others. He has been a volunteer youth coach for over two decades, and fervently believes coaching provides a prized opportunity to teach aspiring youth about life, leadership, values and character. His foremost coaching, recruiting and consulting experiences include, but are not limited to:

  • 1989-1990 - USAFA Grad. Assistant (Running Backs, Quality Control), Head Coach Fisher DeBerry

Roby’s life journey has taken him from a tested period of resiliency and resourcefulness as a youth, to an accomplished scholar-athlete as an undergraduate student. That foundation of discipline and commitment led to an impactful career as a decorated military officer and "Top-Gun" fighter pilot. His experiences on the ball field and battlefield helped him develop the skills required to be successful in the boardrooms of public and private organizations, serving in various leadership and executive positions at Fortune 500 and 150 levels. Today, he continues to spend time as a life-long learner, attentive to the attributes required to be fulfilled as a person, focused on the areas he values most: Faith, Family and Community.

In the years since retiring from the military, Roby has led and influenced individuals, teams, and organizations in the private and public sectors. He has held executive positions in Fortune 500 and 150 organizations in numerous industries.
