Mike has been involved in athletics his whole life. Growing up in Florida, he had the opportunity to play a plethora of sports as a young person. Mike began his coaching career in 1992. He has coached in the Middle School, High School, Club and College ranks throughout his time on the sideline. He currently serves as a Professor of Sport Management and Internship Coordinator at the University of Tampa.

Prior to joining the University of Tampa in the Fall of 2018, he served as Assistant and Director of Athletics at Tampa Preparatory School between 2003 and 2018. While at Tampa Prep, Mike spent seven years (2004-10) as the school's head volleyball coach. In his tenure as volleyball coach, Mike led the Terrapins to the FHSAA Final Four four times, including leading the school to the 2004 Florida State High School Championship (#12 Final National Ranking) and a 2009 State Runner-up finish. In addition to the teamsÕ successes on the court at Tampa Prep, they also won an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award each season.

Mike graduated from Florida Southern College with his Bachelor of Science in 2001, his Master of Education in 2008 and his Doctor of Education in 2017. His doctoral research was a quantitative study that examined the degree to which participating in Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) Workshops affected secondary school athletesÕ level of moral knowing.

Mike has also earned his Certified Athletic Administrator accreditation from the NIAAA.
